and picking up a shoplifter is not ever anything that is comfortable to do but looks like everything work out well and i m guessing people all over the country are going, good on you. thank you. it s been amazing, and i appreciate everything everybody has done and all the calls of thanks. it s been wonderful. miami-dade police officer, vicki thomas, live with us. officer, thank you. a british girl, remember her? she went missing while on vacation with her family more six years ago, and now, now prosecutors in portugal say they re re-opening the investigation into the disappearance of madeline mccann. why? what do they have that s different today? that is next. i m only in my 60 s.
guessing as an officer of the law, with a duty to the citizens, you might have had some mixed emotions. no? yes, i did. i told her about the food bank, but that she had other options other than shoplifting because shoplifting is a crime. but the food banks would not have been open and the children were hungry that night so i had to act. how did she react? i saw her tearing up there in the video clip. the same that night when i walked out of the store with the grocery ct, she cried a lot. and she asked me if she could hug me, which is somewhat unusual for a subject to be hugging an officer in the middle of a parking lot, but i allowed it. you said she got a job. how did that come about? because of the media, and the public. that is so wonderful. i can t thank everybody enough. well, officer, i know the streets of south florida can be mean streets from time to time,
with a gun. it s a 13-year-old little boy. you can tell him, put it down, and it s not a real gun. the teen was carrying a handgun. it did have the orange tip on it. the sheriffs department is investigating that shooting. trace, thank you. a police officer in florida says she caught a woman shoplifting at a grocery store. but the cop didn t take her to jail. instead she reached into their wallet and helped feed the woman and her family. this happened last month in miami at a public supermaintenance, florida chain. according to reports, the woman tried to walk off with hundreds of dollars worth of groves groceries and said she had no food at home to feed her kids and was doing all she could do. and that was her on solution that s when this officer, vicki thomas, who has been on the job two decades, questioned her. she came out, ask i asked do you even have food at the house?
