HISD To Delay Spring Semester Until January 11 Hillsboro Independent School District announced last week that the start of the spring semester will be delayed until January 11. Superintendent Vicki Adams attributed the decision to the increased spread of COVID-19 in the community after Thanksgiving, and the anticipated increase due to gatherings at Christmas. Staff members will have professional development and planning opportunities during the first week of January, Adams said. We are working hard to slow the spread of all illnesses within our schools, and we will continue to do so when we return, the superintendent said. When school resumes, families are asked not to send children to school if there is an active COVID-19 case in the household, if the student is exhibiting symptoms or if the student has been exposed to someone who has tested positive.

Hillsboro ISD Receives Superior FIRST Rating The Hillsboro Independent School District (HISD) Board of Trustees met in regular session Monday, December 14, and held a hearing on the district s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) report. HISD received a superior rating with a score of 92. Chief Financial Officer Dale Snyder said that the rating is based on data collected during the 2018-2019 fiscal year. The district s previous rating for fiscal year 2017-2018 was 94. Snyder said that the slight drop was due to administrative costs. He added that next year s report will no doubt see a sharp decrease in costs due to the impact of COVID-19.
