CEMEX has announced that, in collaboration with OVIS, A.C., it participated in the release of a desert bighorn sheep group to the wild within the Sierra El Viejo area in the Mexican state of Sonora. This effort is made in coordination with Mexico s Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources and Sonora s government.
The 13 bighorns released came from UMA El Plomito Ranch and were in the quarantine and pre-release pen. This quarantine process began with nine specimens, but in the last week of December, the birth of four offspring occurred.
This release is of the soft type since the specimens had a drinker and food supplement inside the pre-release pen, and once released, they will be able to explore the outside of the enclosure and thus begin their introduction to wildlife.
