But some politicians seeking local posts seem already in the campaign trail. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, some aspirants are already conducting “pulong-pulongs” (dialogue/interactions) with voters in the barangay levels. Some are visiting the barangays for consultation with barangay officials in the guise of looking into their basic problems. This is evidenced in their social media posts.
In the city, the political situation is still fluid. The administration’s Barug Party, sources said, is still ironing out the “inevitable conflict” between Mayor Edgardo Labella and Vice Mayor Michael Rama after the latter repeatedly said that he is considering running for the city’s top post. There may be ready replacement bets if conditions change. Or contenders may hide their plan until the last chance for substitution. Under either category are former mayor Tomas Osmeña and his wife former councilor Margot Osmeña.
SunStar May 10, 2021 THE Cebu City Government’s inoculation program for the public has been stopped in two instances already for lack of vaccine supply.
“1st dose on hold,” said the announcement from Vice Mayor Michael Rama’s information desk issued Monday, May 10, 2021. It said the vaccination with the first dose will end at 12 noon that day. The announcement also sought media’s help, but I received the email at 12:25 p.m. based on the message time stamp. There are senior citizens and those with underlying health conditions or comorbidities who qualify for the dose, but they now have to wait for the next delivery of vaccines.
