The Palmerston North student teacher who allegedly targeted his own pupils had several complaints of inappropriate behaviour referred to police before he began his teaching programme.
However Massey University confirms these issues weren t raised during his acceptance - despite the police vetting process.
On Wednesday ex-Palmerston North Number One Shoes employee Malachai Wylie appeared in the Palmerston North District Court.
He was discharged without conviction after pleading guilty to two counts of offensive behaviour and one of theft after he stole, sniffed, spat and ejaculated in female customers shoes.

Global dairy industry research innovator and leader Dr Kevin Marshall was awarded Massey University’s most prestigious honorary award, the Massey Medal, at the Manawatū graduation on Tuesday, 4 May.
The award is in recognition of Dr Marshall’s outstanding and ongoing contribution to Massey University and the New Zealand food sector in multiple leadership, advisory and governance roles.
In his citation at the College of Sciences graduation ceremony, Professor Jeremy Hill said Dr Marshall has had a profound impact and has “made a real difference to not only Massey University and the national food sector, but to New Zealand and the global food sector.
