The third of six children all but one serving in the military Augustin Victor Coroy was born on Aug. 6, 1937 near Marcelin, Sask., and grew up in nearby Saskatoon. His father was RCMP, and when Vic was a youngster and his mother needed to run errands without him or his older brother, Reg, in tow, she would drop the boys off at their father’s detachment, where Const. John Coroy would lock the pair in a cell to keep them occupied until mom returned.

Ottawaâs first reported case of COVID-19 came on Feb. 10, more than two months after the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the disease revealed itself to the world.
Ten days passed before Ottawaâs second case arose, then two more days before the third. By the end of February, there were five cases here. It was not until later, however, that Ottawa Public Health was able to confirm COVIDâs presence in the city.
