) Sorting through the organized chaos of the ancient city of the dead, archaeologists have unearthed well-preserved individual and family tombs that contain highly realistic  funerary portraits , intricately sculpted  sarcophagi bearing the names of the dear departed, inscribed stelae revealing details about their lives, and personal artifacts and burial objects left in remembrance by visiting loved ones.  “The necropolis of Santa Rosa is one of the best-preserved burial sites of the Roman world and contains a treasure trove of the life of the  ancient Romans ,” Leonardo Di Blasi, who manages the necropolis site for the Vatican Museums’ Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities,  told the Jerusalem Post .

Covid-19 in Italy: Vatican Museums reopen after 88 days 31 Jan, 2021 Vatican Museums will reopen on 1 February with advance booking required.The Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel, will reopen their doors to the public from Monday 1 February after being closed for 88 days, the longest closure in the museums history since 1943 during world war two. The Museums have been shut since 5 November, in line with the closure of Italy s museums amid tighter covid-19 restrictions. Most museums and archaeological sites in Italy will reopen on 1 February as the country eases its coronavirus restrictions, reclassifying most regions from medium-risk orange zones to lower-risk yellow zones.
