Monroe Chamber honors top business performers Special to USA Today Network View Comments The Monroe Chamber of Commerce honored the businesses making significant contributions to the Ouachita Parish economy through capital improvements, expansion, job creation and community involvement. Forty-two nominees for the the prestigious Thomas H. Scott Awards of Excellence  collectively created or retained 1,274 jobs in Ouachita Parish and made over $180 million in capital investments in 2020 and 2021.  The reception was held Thursday at The Hub in downtown Monroe. One business was presented the Thomas H. Scott Award, which is not handed out each year and is reserved for special projects. In addition to the annual awards for the small, medium, large  and corporate levels three businesses received special judge s awards.
