As a project, it is driven by a reflection on the lifespan of materials and how they can enable a transformation over a 50-100 year cycle. © Simone Bossi By considering the lifespans of the different constructive elements - from structure (100 years), services (50 years), envelope (30 years), to the relative impermanence of the partitions (10-20 years), the project aims to reduce to the minimum the grey energy along with its existence.

DF DC hides Swiss apartment block behind Pisa Baptistery-informed concrete wall Architecture studio DF DC has designed a concrete apartment block overlooking Lake Lugano in the south of Switzerland that has a concrete exoskeleton so that the interior spaces are free to change over time . Named after its street, Via Carona 6 contains 14 private-rental apartments that are shielded from the road by a concrete wall that was informed by the architecture of the 14th-century Pisa Baptistery.
