Much like the plight of the state’s farmers, both drought and flooding rain have the same adverse effects on our local waterways. And the cost to remedy the problems caused by these weather extremes exponentially exceed the ability of the agricultural sector or municipalities to manage.
The extremes of weather the region has experienced in recent years have posed challenges to keeping area waterways clean, but local watershed associations said infrastructure improvements could help keep rivers clean in the future.
