Restrictions to be partial in Neyyattinkara and Nedumangad, total in Attingal and Varkala Share Via Email   |  A+A A- By Express News Service THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Partial lockdown will continue in Thiruvananthapuram city corporation in the next one week from Thursday as it remains under category B with TPR standing between 5 to 10 per cent, Two municipalities, Neyyattinkara and Nedumangad, also promoted from category C to B in which the partial restrictions are applicable. However, lockdown will continue in two other municipalities, Attingal and Varkala, as these local bodies fall under category C (TPR between 10 and 15 pc). As many as five panchayats in the district have been classified as category D (TPR 15 pc and above) zone. Triple lockdown will be imposed for one week in Muthakkal, Tholicode, Andoorkonam, Karumkulam and Vettoor.

The 15 panchayats have been declared ‘critical containment zones’, where existing lockdown measures have been further tightened, District Collector Navjot Khosa has said. The following panchayats are listed as critical containment zones: Anad, Aruvikkara, Azhoor, Edava, Kadinamkulam, Kalliyoor, Karode, Kizhuvilam, Kottukal, Manikkal, Nagaroor, Ottasekharamangalam, Venganoor, Vettoor, and Vilavoorkal. The TPR is above 30% in these regions when the overall TPR in Thiruvananthapuram district is hovering around the 20% mark. In the 15 panchayats, shops selling food items, fruits, vegetables, milk products, meat, fish, and cattle feed could function up to 7.30 p.m. Bakeries are also permitted. The arrested were identified as Mohammad Noufal, 21, Mohammad Sajjad, 19, and Ahmad Shah, 21, all natives of Vettoor in Varkala. Seven people have been arrested so far in connection with the case. Four of them, who were arrested earlier, have been remanded. According to the police, a total of 12 persons were involved in the gang rape and five of them are still at large.
