Belarus takes stock of cultural heritage repatriation efforts in 2019-2020

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – The commission on finding and returning cultural heritage and using it for scientific and cultural purposes at the Belarusian Culture Ministry convened on 27 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Culture Ministry.
In 2019-2020, Belarus returned 56 books, 20 works by artists of Belarusian descent, one Slutsk belt, and two collections of documents and photos, received 10 digital copies of books and documents and seven photos of cultural property, found and repatriated more than 100 documents and 16 items that belonged to Belarusian museums. The most interesting items include three books from the library of the Chreptowicz family, three paintings by Ferdynand Ruszczyc, 50 books by Wladyslaw Syrokomla, the Brest Bible, and a sword of the 15th-16th centuries.
