(Contributed photo) + March 04, 2021 VETERINARY services of the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental, through a simultaneous veterinary relief mission, have reached animal raisers in the province’s Fifth District. Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena, who led the activity at Barangay Bato in Hinigaran Thursday, March 4, 2021, said the veterinary relief mission included services such as deworming, consultation, treatment, vaccination, vitamin B supplementation of pet and livestock animals, administration of rabies vaccines. Decena said the PVO also dispersed 100 heads of free-range chicks and distributed information-education campaign materials on raising livestock and poultry.

March 01, 2021 THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is upbeat that private sector participation will further strengthen its bid to safeguard the province s P6-billion swine industry mainly by maintaining its status as African Swine Fever (ASF)-free, an official said. Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena, who spoke at the takeoff ceremony of ASF Information Caravan in the province at the Capitol grounds in Bacolod City Monday, March 1, said private sector initiatives in fight against the dreaded disease affecting swine are most welcomed. Decena, who is also the co-chair of the Provincial ASF Task Force, said these efforts are commendable and laudable.

(File photo) + February 16, 2021 THE Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental is pushing for the expansion of the service areas of artificial insemination (AI) in the province to boost the local cattle industry, its top official said. Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said the annual cattle population in Negros Occidental has been increasing. In a five-year data reported to the Provincial Board recently, the province had produced 49,306 heads of cattle in 2016. It went up to 49,371 in 2017; 50,052 in 2018; and 51,319 in 2019; and 55,075 in 2020.
