the key players have saved much of their talking for behind closed doors. you have the white house legislative affairs director, mark short and mick mulvaney here on capitol hill seeking a two-year budget agreement. sources suggest a deal could be reached by raising the current spending caps by $200 billion the next two years. majority leader mitch mcconnell s priority says it s more money for the military. it s vital our agreement provides sufficient resources for our all volunteer armed forces. under the budget control act, the american military has been stretched thin by cuts that have harmed our combat reddiness. there s two new democrats being sworn in, doug jones. the majority is 51-49 now. and democrats are starting the new year pushing for their priorities. we can start on the budget with opioids, veterans
