After the two fatal shark attacks in 2022, even Plett surfing champ and instructor Clayton Bischoff is uncertain whether he wants to venture to the backline of Plett to surf just yet.
only 4 deaths. this is an incredibly rare, tragic event. now, what s interesting about this tragic scenario that unfolded off the coast of stuart, florida, is that this was a veteran surfer. he had spent a lot of his life in these waters. originally, they thought it was a great white shark. you know, great whites can live throughout our oceans around the world, but we now believe that the shark species that targeted this gentleman was most likely either a bull shark or a tiger shark. okay. that s indigenous to the region? i mean, they re common there off the coast of florida? well, they re not super common, but they are global sharks. you can find bull sharks from the amazon up into parts of the caribbean along the coast of florida. you know, there are 375 shark species worldwide. only 30 of these species can be potentially dangerous to man, and having that sort of scary scenario or situation which we call an unprovoked attack.
