JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A highly popular pub crawl will make its return this weekend in Jamestown.
The 42nd Annual Runnin O’ The Green will be held more than a month after the typical March start. Larry Knoblich, affectionately nicknamed “Knobby”, founded and organized the event more than 40 years ago in what was a slightly smaller version of what it’s become today.
The 2020 edition was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and was pushed back one month this year to provide more time for vaccinations.
Through the years, the Runnin O’ The Green has transformed into a massive fundraiser for local cancer patients and Elk’s Camp Grassick, a camp for kids through adults with different disabilities.

The Animal Health Technology/Pre-Vet Club plans to memorialize Murray State student Sarah Townsend by building a recycled bench.
The bench will be made out of recycled bottle caps. Once these are collected, the caps will be sent to Green Tree Plastics, where they will be sorted, weighed and cleaned before being melted down.
Two students, junior Emmalee Storm and senior Kylee Harden, came up with the idea after some members of the Pre-Vet Club suggested different ways to memorialize Townsend.
Storm said she volunteered to help Harden with the bench because they’ve both had experience with building recycled benches in high school.

Obituaries
Darwin “Derb” Frey, 88, of Stapleton passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2021 at the Central Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Kearney.
Darwin was born May 14, 1932 at the home of Harry and Eva Frey in Stapleton.
He graduated in 1950 from Baker Rural High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. Darwin served during the Korean War as an aerial gunner on a B-29 bomber flying out of Okinawa. He was decorated with the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters. After serving four years each of active and reserve duty, he was honorably discharged from the Air Force and enrolled in the University of Wyoming using the G.I. Bill.

The Vietnam Era Vets Chapter 145 will hold the annual Christmas social starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the All Vet s Club, Jamestown. All era vets are welcome to attend; no membership is required. Friends and spouses are welcome.

Also, the All Vet s Club will have a customer appreciation night from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17. Refreshments and treats will be served.
