As stated last month, the historic Castleberry building, located at 102 S. Main Street in Salem, on the square, is now officially listed on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places.
Dr. John and Leslie Scribner purchased the property in January 2020 with the purpose of restoring as much history to the building as possible. They are sharing the journey with their four children: Glendon (12), Phoebe (10), Marshall (9) and Jewell (5).
The family knew they wanted the official historic designation for the Castleberry, so research began as to what needed to take place. Leslie was very appreciative of the knowledge and helpful hands of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage & Tourisms Arkansas Historic Preservation Program (AHHP). The team helped her prepare the proper documentation which captures nearly every detail of the unique historical property.
