Vestal Graduates Join The Vestal Police Department

Vestal Graduates Join The Vestal Police Department Students from Vestal High School have had a chance to interact with local law enforcement through a partnership that has gone on for almost 10 years. Graduates from the Vestal High School Youth Police Academy have been given leadership opportunities, and three of those grads have gone on to become part of the Vestal Police Department. Get our free mobile app According to a news release from the Vestal Central School District, the new officers are Bryant Mabee-class of 2018, Alyssa Chapman-class of 2017, and Justin Perez-class of 2016 joined the department last year. All three of these officers are also graduates of the Vestal High School Youth Police Academy who has teamed up with the Vestal Police department to help students with leadership skills, team building, decision making, and building a trust between the students and community leaders.

Former Johnson City Village Trustee Passes Away

Former Johnson City Trustee William Brennan is being remembered for his service to the community. The 90-year-old served a decade on the Village board.  He passed away at his home Monday, January 11. According to the obituary placed by the family, Brennan was a 6 th grade teacher at the Vestal Central School District for 33 years. There will be no calling hours at the family’s request. Holiday Tradition Continues For Fifth Graders at Tioga Hills Elem

Fifth graders at Tioga Hills Elementary continued their holiday tradition with the Community Box Project. Enter your number to get our free mobile app The pandemic has made the project a little different this year and last week students and their families put together personal care items in shoe boxes at home and brought them to school during their day of attendance. Once the care items were brought into the classroom, the shoeboxes containing the personal care items  were wrapped and walked down the road to the Park Terrace Community Food Pantry, which is in the basement of the Park Terrace Methodist Church.
