OGDENSBURG – City Council approved a three-year deal with the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority Monday to provide security services at the airport, despite concerns raised that the authority is paying for more time than it is using.
The three-year agreement will cost $185,000, funding two full-time police positions. OBPA Board of Directors Chairman Vernon “Sam” Burns and Executive Director Steve Lawrence said that contract would be burdensome to the authority, which has lost hundreds of thousands in revenue due to the pandemic.
They told council the OBPA was losing $160,000 to $180,000 per month due to the shutdown of the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge.
