Police ID man found deceased in Lake Geneva lagoon; cause under investigation

Lake Geneva Regional News LAKE GENEVA – Police have identified the man who was found deceased in a lagoon off Wrigley Drive in downtown Lake Geneva as a 40-year-old man from Sharon, who had been reported missing earlier in the week. The cause remains under investigation. Lake Geneva Police responded Sunday afternoon, Dec. 27, to a report of a body found in the lagoon off of the 100 block of Wrigley Drive. Police received the call around 12:37 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a body in approximately 4 feet of water. The body was recovered and turned over to the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Vernon Pokora has been identified as the dead man found in the water off of the 100 block of Wrigley Drive around 12:30 p.m.  Pokora was reported missing a day prior on Dec. 26. Search continues for missing Walworth County man

UPDATE: Search ends for missing Walworth County man ORIGINAL POST: Law enforcement in Walworth County is asking for help in finding a missing man. Lake Geneva Police say the vehicle of Vernon Pokora, who lives in the Village of Sharon, has been in their city since December 23, 2020. In a Facebook post, Pokora’s mother say the vehicle was found abandoned with its windows rolled down several day later. There were indications that it had not moved. Pokora is described as standing five-feet 11-inches, weighing between 140 to 150 pounds, and does wear glasses at times. Anyone with information as to where Vernon Pokora may be is asked to contact either the Village of Sharon Police Department at 262-736-4617 or Detective Sergeant Glen Nettesheim of the Lake Geneva Police Department at 262-248-4455.
