TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday, according to a tweet she sent Wednesday evening.
In the tweet, Moody said her symptoms are mild and her family is in good health.
Moody is currently self-quarantining, she said. She also urged Floridians to remain vigilant about their health.
Moody s positive test comes as COVID-19 cases in Florida continue to rise as the delta variant first discovered in India spreads throughout the state. The variant is much more transmissible than the normal strain of coronavirus.

Hospice workers not considered front line workers for COVID-19 vaccine

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - People who are 65 and older and healthcare workers in Florida have been prioritized for the COVID-19 vaccine. However, hospice workers and in-home healthcare workers are not a part of that group.
Florida has about 20,000 hospice workers, and according to the Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association, those workers take care of more than 140,000 patients.
“We’re way below hitting 50 percent of colleagues that have been able to receive the vaccine,” said Jonathan Fleece, President and CEO of Tidewell Hospice.

TALLAHASSEE â For weeks, prominent Republican lawmakers in Florida were silent while President Donald Trump spread baseless conspiracy theories about the presidential election he lost.
On Wednesday, while Congress debated whether to certify the statesâ election results, a Trump-supporting mob stormed the U.S. Capitol. At least one person was injured as scores pushed past a police barrier, and entered the historic building.
