1 - THE original fire tender pulled by hand. It was “rescued” and restored by former fireman Peter Cole. It is inscribed “The Gift of John Clavering Esq. To the Borough of Great Marlow, 1731.” 2 - The crew with their horse drawn tender which was housed in one of the Market Hall archways, and the horses kept in Crown Meadow to the rear. 3 & 4 - In Crown Meadow, and probably pictures taken on the same day in 1903. Many well known Marlow names in the line-up including Sawyer, Frith, Page-Dye and Dickson: the latter, a doctor, was titled as “Surgeon”. Inset: Harry Sawyer’s brass helmet.
