The Dooryard Brings SA its First Self-Serve Taproom
Published: December 16, 2020
The Dooryard owner Jason Meredith likes to consider his new taproom and restaurant an extension of some of Texas’ smaller breweries.
“We want to give people the opportunity to do multiple brewery visits in one trip,” says Meredith, who last week opened The Dooryard in the Starlight Oaks shopping center near Shavano Park. “We seek out some of those harder-to-get styles and more interesting brews and give customers the chance to taste them with a small pour so they can go back and get more or try something else.”
The self-serve taproom came about after Meredith was laid off just before the pandemic began following 18 years as an IT director for a local nonprofit. The organization was sold and Meredith was among those no longer needed news he received shortly after he and his partner found out they were expecting a baby and had purchased a home.
