No Roads (The Garden)
After living through a year that brought a devastating tornado and a deadly global pandemic, rapper Reaux Marquez felt inspired to craft an album that reflected the loss and tumult he and his North Nashville community experienced.
No Roads is an immersive, narrative album, opening with the spoken line, âThe child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.â Marquez produced the album himself, and he adds flourishes of jazz, spoken word, R&B and field recordings into his fiery, moody soundscapes, which add color and texture to his versatile flow. To boot, Marquez also assembled a killer lineup of featured artists, including local mainstays like A.B. Eastwood, Jamiah, Namir Blade and Lauren McClinton. BRITTNEY McKENNA

Sam Tinnesz X UNSECRET- “Never Stay Down”
Every once in a while an artist comes along who is blazing their own trail without any help and we can all consider ourselves lucky to be on board the wild ride. Last year Tinnesz released “Play With Fire” and I was immediately a massive fan. I remember seeing how intense his fans were online and thinking to myself HOW did I not hear about him sooner? Well do yourself a favor and don’t make the same mistake I did for so long. His latest single a collab with UNSECRET called “Never Stay Down” is the perfect blend of rock, blues, dance, shoegaze, all put together the only way Tinnesz can. Lyrically I also feel like the message in the song should be our mantra for 2021. Here’s to a big year for Tinnesz.

KennyHoopla- “Plastic Door”
KennyHoopla didn’t let 2020 keep him down. He’s been blowing up the radio charts, working with Travis Barker, and even Elton John posted about how much he loved this song. “Plastic Door” is one of those songs that hits on all the emotions and is the perfect song for any situation you may find yourself in. I was honored to have Kenny on my radio show earlier this year and I have to say this couldn’t be happening to a nicer dude. KennyHoopla is a return to real and honest music and we need that now more than ever.
