Teachers told to be role models for students

Kohima, May 29 (EMN): Underlining the requisite quality of a teacher, Dr. Zavise Rume, professor at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), urged teachers to be role models in all aspects, make the class interactive and master their respective subjects. Dr. Rume stated this during a one-day orientation on professionalism and empowerment of teachers held at VDB hall in Dzulha village under Phek district on May 28. The event was organised by ‘Pick a Book Nagaland’ on three themes namely ‘Search for your meaning,’ ‘Know your profession,’ ‘Know your powers.’ Speaking on the topics ‘Basic skills of teaching’ and ‘Professional code of ethics for teachers,’ Dr. Rume stated that teaching without love would be a waste, a press release from ‘Pick a Book Nagaland’ stated. Another resource person and teacher, Khovelu Naroh, spoke on ‘Strategies of teaching language and role of teachers in language development.’
