Brendon MacNee, partner of Lisa Rush and stepfather of Amber-Rose Rush, who was brutally murdered by former doctor Venod Skantha, says he is relieved by the news of Skantha s death in prison. I am relieved it is over, we don t have to wait for the court of appeal and we don t have to go to the parole hearings, MacNee said.
The father of murdered teenager Amber-Rose Rush says the death of her killer is hard to accept .
Officials confirmed convicted murderer Venod Skantha died at the Otago Corrections Facility on Wednesday - the same day his appeal was dismissed. His death is not being treated as suspicious, Corrections said.
Speaking to Stuff, Amber-Rose s father Shane said Skantha s death showed a sign of guilt and remorse . It is hard to accept that her killer won t have to pay the price for his crimes, but it is a relief to the family not to have to spend more of our lives being tortured with appeals and parole hearings.
