VENICE – Paul Kaldy took a daring step last Oct. 15 when he opened a third Tri-Healthy store – to go along with two in Ohio – in the San Marco Building on Tampa Avenue in Venice.
“We had no plans of coming to Florida, we visited and never left,” Kaldy said. “We mention that story and I’d say at least 50% to 60% of the people they have a similar story. The come down and they visit Venice and they don’t ever leave.”
The Kaldys are among several business owners who decided to open new ventures on the island of Venice in 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

The city hosted parades in 2018 and 2019, while Holic was mayor. The current plan for the parade would mirror the 2019 format, with the students assembling at Venice High School, and the parade progressing west on Miami Avenue until Harbor Drive on Venice, then north to Venice Avenue. It would proceed east on Venice Avenue until Nassau Street. There it would turn north and proceed for a half block and enter Centennial Park.
“We have got a great school with great kids, they need the recognition,” Holic said.
At the park, there would be a gathering, with “free” hot dogs sold in exchange for a donation that would go toward the purchase of championship rings.
