The BBMP Lakes Department has faced criticism for initiating construction of the wall for fencing the lake without removing silt and not conducting a survey to clear the encroachments on the lake land. Residents claim that over five acres of lake land has been converted into a private layout, with the land mafia having sold some residential sites.
BBMP SWM Joint Commissioner issued a notification on September 18 narrating preventive measures taken to avoid dumping C&D waste on the roadsides, vacant places, and lake bunds.
This road was a convenient connection for residents travelling between KR Puram and TC Palya two years ago. Regrettably, it has become nearly impassable, especially during the monsoon season. Each rainy season, the road’s condition deteriorates further, leaving residents uncertain about its future restoration.
The pooja was held in December 2021 by the then Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj and work order was issued to a contractor in January 2022 but the rejuvenation of the lake is yet to begin.
