Govt must announce one stance on the ECT, says Ven Gnanasara Thero

Share: COLOMBO (News1st):  All parts of the government must come together and present one stance on the handing over of the East Container Terminal, Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero said. Addressing a media briefing today, the Venerable Thero said that different parts of the government are expressing mixed opinions on the matter. The Thero insisted that the President must make a statement to the people of this country. “The East container terminal and the west container terminal are both ours. We are not asking them not to give away any specific asset. We are completely against selling off our assets,” the Thero added.

Medille Pagngnaloka Thero said the Government is attempting to give away the West Container Terminal instead of the East Container Terminal owing to the pressure exerted by the trade unions. “What they are suggesting is like, we will give you the Temple of the sacred relic instead of the Atamastanaya,” the Venerable Thero added. The Thero said that when protests are being held against handing over the ECT to India, the Government is planning on giving the West Container Terminal to appease India. “Nalaka Godahewa is the person who stole from the stock market in the past, and today the people have given them power. But without any shame instead of going as a Minister of the government, yesterday they appeared as members of Viyathmaga, an organization that hoodwinked the people,” the Thero said adding that they were trying to deceive the trade unions.

Share: Colombo (News 1st);  The Government’s attempt to release 49% of the East Container Terminal is cause for serious concern, said Venerable Akmeemana Dayarathana Thero, the chair of the Sinhala Ravaya National Organization. The thero questioned if the government is operating to the needs of a group of traffickers and also raised concerns over the allegiance to India. The Venerable Thero further said 6.9 million people exercised their franchise aspiring the tough decisions taken by the former Defence Secretary, would be repeated, and sadly it did not transpire. He warned the government to ensure it operates in a manner that would not force the Maha Sangha to step out onto the streets in protest, adding it that happens, it would be a serious disadvantage for the government.

Sri Lanka facing Indian invasion, warns Ven Medagoda Abhayatissa

On Monday (25), representatives of the Port Joint Trade Union called on the Venerable Thero to hand over their report on protecting ECT. It is evident a program is in play for a prolonged period to make Sri Lanka an Indian state, said the Venerable Thero adding a victory for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over ECT would be similar to Rama’s win over Ravana. When this happens, Sri Lanka will become a failed state, he said adding Indian does not like to see Sri Lanka prosper.
