Protecting Young Almond Trees From Nematodes

“Actually, we have two products that are managing nematodes for many years now we ve been selling Movento as a foliar spray, and it is a two-way systemic material. It goes down the phloem into the roots and impacts nematodes,” said Jimenez. “And now with the new Velum One product, a contact nematicide. It’s applied through the irrigation system (both drip and micro-sprinklers), and it goes directly into the soil where the nematodes exist.
Controlling Nematodes in Young Almonds

“Young almond trees are particularly susceptible to damage from nematodes because they have such a small root system when they re young,” said Jimenez. “And what we find is that you can also have problems with soil borne diseases on young trees like bacterial canker, or even Phytophthora root rot.”
Jimenez is talking about Bayer Crop Protection’s Velum One nematicide and he said it will indirectly protect those roots from other pathogens.
