Activists have started an online petition to save a grove in the All Saints’ Church compound from being axed for the Gottigere-Nagavara metro line. Addressed to the chief minister, the petition by members of the Environmental Support Group (ESG) has clocked over 4,500 signatures. The church is located at the junction of Richmond Road and Hosur Road.

BENGALURU: In the midst of the all-round slump in activity all around due to the second COVID wave, a major infrastructure work kickstarted 60 feet below the ground on Friday evening. The tunnelling operations of Bengaluru Metro s sixth Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) launched for the 600-metre distance from the Jayanagar Fire Station (South Ramp) to Dairy Circle.

After facing about six months of delay owing to Covid-19 pandemic,
the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is planning to start tunnelling work between Dairy Circle and
Vellara Junction by March. On Saturday, parts of three
giant tunnel boring machines (TBMs) arrived to the City.
“TBM components had come earlier to the Chennai port. They are German-made machines but some parts were brought from China. The
construction company has promised to complete the assembling of the machine by February. The work of creating a shaft at Vellara junction is already complete,” Ajay Seth, Managing Director of BMRCL said.
