Employees of school districts across the state will begin getting COVID-19 vaccinations in just over a week.
Mahoning Valley school districts are working with their county educational service centers to develop plans for getting most of their employees vaccinated, so most school buildings can be reopened for students by March 1, which is a goal of Gov. Mike DeWine.
DeWine’s office had a meeting with all 52 educational service centers across the state, asking them to coordinate the gathering of information from each school district about their needs, so the state can plan the vaccination process and rollout for each school district.

CORTLAND The Lakeview Board of Education voted unanimously Monday to extend the upcoming winter break.
The schedule rearrangement will tack on the weeklong spring break to the end of winter break. Classes will resume Jan. 11 instead of Jan. 4.
“Our hope is to be back on the hybrid schedule when classes resume, pending what the Trumbull County Health Department says,” Superintendent Velina Jo Taylor said.
Students are expected to be in school during what would have been spring break.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, parents Taylor and Shannon Pease told the board why they feel the move back to in-person learning is needed. They presented data from various entities to implore the board to move back to traditional learning.
