DIMAPUR Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Kohima organised an outreach activity and Nai Talim (Basic education) programme on the topic “Handicraft for Life” at Khonoma village on April 22. According to Dr. Velankanni Alex, the teacher in-charge for the outreach activity and Nai Talim, the visit was held to enable the student-teachers to develop awareness on the “Learning through engagement and handicraft for life,” an update stated. Ninety-eight 98 student-teachers from the second semester (B.Ed) and seven teacher educators who arrived at Khonoma village in the morning visited St. John Bosco School, and interacted with students. They also conducted exercise therapy, games and a workshop on crafts. “Afterward, they divided into four groups and participated in collecting data from the community on unemployment, women empowerment, and other areas with the help of the Khonoma Village Council President and Students’ Union members,” the update stated.
