According to a press release from The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services division, Minnesota will have until May 3, 2023, to be REAL ID ready, but many will decide whether to apply for a REAL ID or enhanced driver’s license or ID (EDL/EID) when they renew their driver’s license or ID card in the coming months. DPS-DVS encourages Minnesotans to take advantage of online tools to help with the decision-making and application process.

However, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services division (DPS-DVS) says utilizing online tools will help streamline the application process. “We want Minnesotans to successfully apply for a REAL ID during their first office visit and not have to make repeat trips,” Driver and Vehicle Services Director Emma Corrie said. “Applying for a REAL ID requires additional documentation, and the process has often led to customers needing to go home, get additional documents and return for a second visit. Pre-applying and pre-verifying documents can prevent this from happening.”

Author: Pixabay The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is once again offering the driver’s license knowledge test online after making security changes. Gov. Tim Walz initially signed legislation in July that would allocate funds to allow DPS to administer the Class D knowledge test online. The online test first launched in early October and was taken offline on Nov. 2. The test is now online again with some changes, DPS announced Tuesday. A person proctoring the exam is now limited to overseeing testing for three individuals per year. The testing system will track how many times a person has proctored an exam.
