The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has finished planting 150,000 trees in Saiysad National Park, Taif, as part of the national program for planting 10 billion trees to realize the targets of the Saudi Green Initiative. The trees were jujube, acacia, seyal, acacia asak, and Vachellia flava. Also planted were plants such as dodonaea and henna, SPA reported. The project covered eight of the park's 28 million square meters; it is one of the largest land parks in the Makkah region and one of the oldest in the Kingdom.

The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority (KSRNR) and the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) planted one million seedlings of 13 local wild plant species, which the center produced and supplied to the reserve, SPA reported. These plants will contribute to producing oxygen, absorbing tons of carbon dioxide, increase the vegetation cover, and combat sand encroachment.
