Craig tierney hopes to finish a business and marketing degree at the university of iowa in a couple of years and believes hell have good job prospects then. Right now, he depends on a minimum wage job, plus tips, as a bartender. And even when he moves on to better work, he knows ny wholl still depend on jobs paying near minimum wage. I have a lot of friends working in the tipped wage and minimum wage industry. A lot of them are single mom w just for themselves but for kids to provide for them. As a member of the living wage linn county group, tierney and others watched anxiously as supervisors took up the minimum wage question. Some supervisors still believe setting a minimum wage is a function of state government. But the feeling was since the state wont that hasnt been increased for almost a decade and not expect a local Government Entity not to take this up. Supervisors did make one significant change. [inaudible] theres only one that can administer anesthesia. So we developed a program from the Ge Foundation and with collaboration with the u. S. University, university intensity, to train doctors to be able to administer anesthesia. And we hope that this program can increase the number of Health Workers that can administer anesthesia to solve that problem in most of the rural places. Just this week, the same problem, just going back to the republic of south sudan, having completed that training in kenya. And you might wonder what is that .
