ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday disposed of an Intra Court Appeal (ICA), challenging the qualification of Federal Minister for Water Resources Muhammad Faisal Vawda after the petitioner decided to withdraw the case. Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that this case was non-maintainable and the bench was going to dismiss it. The chief justice asked the petitioner that whether he was ready to withdraw the case as he had also alternate forums. At this, the petitioner s lawyer expressed willingness to withdraw ICA.
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan announced on Thursday that the bye-election on National Assembly constituency NA-249, Karachi West-II, will be held on April 29. The seat fell vacant.

KARACHI: Federal Minister Faisal Vawda on Monday approached the Sindh High Court to challenge the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding his disqualification, Geo News reported. Faisal Vawda has filed a constitutional petition in the Sindh High Court to stop the decision of the ECP in relation to his disqualification. He has resigned as a member of the National Assembly. The petition states that the Election Commission does not have the authority to hear complaints against him, adding that it should be ruled that such actions are not within the jurisdiction of the commission.
