ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Saturday said in its detailed verdict that prima facie Muhammad Faisal Vawda was a American national at the time of filing his nomination papers in 2018, and he was ineligible for contesting election for being a dual national.
The IHC issued its detailed order in the disqualification case of Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda. Justice Aamer Farooq had disposed of the petition challenging Vawda’s election on March 3 after he submitted his resignation from the National Assembly.
The IHC, in its detailed order, said that prima facie the affidavit submitted by the PTI leader regarding his dual nationality at the time of his election to the National Assembly was false.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday declared that it could not disqualify federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda after his resignation from National Assembly seat.
The court, however, directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to decide the matter of false affidavit submitted by Vawda, along with his nomination papers pertaining to dual nationality. The order stated the minister had apparently submitted affidavit to ECP comprising the false statement regarding his dual nationality.
The court further said there were consequences of submission of false statement by somebody, under the judgment of Supreme Court of Pakistan. Justice Aamer Farooq announced the 13-page verdict, which was reserved earlier, after listening to arguments from both sides at large in a case challenging the qualification of Vawda.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Karachi president and MPA Khurram Sherzaman said on Saturday that disagreements were found in democratic parties, and all PTI members of the Sindh Assembly stood with decisions of Prime Minister Imran Khan and supported his nominated candidates in the Senate elections.
Along with the PTI candidates for the Senate, Saifullah Abro, PTI Karachi MPAs addressed a press conference at the Karachi Press Club.
Sherzaman said the PTI MPAs would support Abro and Faisal Vawda from Sindh, and, by showing unity, would foil the Pakistan Peoples Partyâs âdirty business of sale and purchaseâ of votes.
