SOME of the cases heard at Salisbury Magistrates : SIMON JAMES DOWNS, aged 36, of Albion Bungalows, Quidhampton, was found guilty of assaulting another person by beating in Wilton on July 22, 2019. On the same day Downs drove a Vauxhall Van along Wishford Road without due care and attention, involving a collision with a cyclist. He was fined a total of £519 and was ordered to pay compensation of £450 and costs of £310. His driving record was endorsed with five points. MARK SCOTT, aged 47, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour towards another, with intent to cause them harassment, alarm or distress, in Salisbury on February 5 last year. He was fined £120 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34. The defendant’s time spent in custody was considered time served for the offence.
