The Vaughan Creek Covered Bridge Replacement project is set to come to an end this summer. The original covered bridge was taken down in 2021. The government planned to replace the bridge with a metal bridge with a wooden hood to 'mimic' a covered bridge, but with pushback from the community, the new bridge will be made of timber.
The president of the Covered Bridges Conservation Association of New Brunswick has put together brochures of covered bridges in two counties in hopes of attracting tourists. New Brunswick is the only province in Atlantic Canada with covered bridges and Ray Boucher thinks they can be a big draw.
