The Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court partially upheld the appeal of candidate for MP in constituency No. 87 Oleksandr Shevchenko against the Supreme Court’s decision of April 28, 2020 on recognizing the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to establish the results of the by-elections as legitimate, the OPORA Civil Network has reported on May 2 night.
“The Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court adopted a resolution by which it recognized the actions of the Central Election Commission to establish the election results in constituency No. 87 as illegal and declared illegal and canceled the CEC protocol of April 22, 2021, which established the election results and declared Vasyl Virastyuk the winner in constituency No. 87. Thus, the Grand Chamber partially upheld the appeal of Oleksandr Shevchenko against the Supreme Court’s decision of April 28, 2020 in case No. 9901/114/21,” the statement on the OPORA Civil Network website said.

The nominee of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Servant of the People party, famous strength athlete Vasyl Virastyuk, won the parliamentary by-election in western Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
Virastyuk finished as the leader of the race in Nadvirna, a city of 22,000 people, with 31.25% of the vote, according to the Central Election Commission. The official results came in on April 4, seven days after the election took place.
