NDDB, EESL to develop innovative energy-efficient solutions for dairy sector

To propagate technically sound and financially viable models meeting the need of electricity, steam and hot water in the dairy cooperative network
The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) have decided to work together to design and develop innovative energy efficient business solutions for dairy cooperative institutions.
In order to promote efficient renewable technologies in the dairy space, NDDB, the apex dairy institution, inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU)with EESL on Wednesday for this. The MoU was signed by Meenesh Shah, Executive Director, NDDB, and Venkatesh Dwivedi, Director, Projects, EESL, during a virtual ceremony held at NDDB, Anand, Gujarat.
Vadodara/ Anand: Dairy Surveyor a GIS-enabled android application developed by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will provide a robust locational database that can be used by policy makers to formulate or review effective policies and programmes related to the dairy sector.
This is what Varsha Joshi, joint secretary (cattle and dairy development), department of animal husbandry and dairying (Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying) of government of India and interim chairman of NDDB said.
Joshi was delivering the keynote address at NDDB’s webinar on ‘Dairy Surveyor taking technology to the dairy network’ on Monday.
The app can capture ‘real-time’ information to strengthen decision-making. It is capable of geotagging and mapping infrastructure, real-time tracking of field projects, monitoring milk procurement and sale-related activities. “It will bring in transparency and also help in saving time, effort and cost,” she said.
In a move that could help policy makers formulate or review effective policies around the sector, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has launched a Android-based dairy surveyor application. The geographical information system (GIS) enabled Android application will benefit dairy cooperatives and producers-owned organisations in the sector by providing real-time information, said NDDB. Dairy Surveyor application will provide a robust locational database that can be used by the policy makers to formulate or review effective policies & programmes related to the dairy sector. It can capture real-time location-based information to strengthen decision-making, said Varsha Joshi, joint secretary - cattle & dairy development, department of animal husbandry & dairying under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying of Government of India.
