Europe and South America Overtake North America in TV Consumption - Study

Last year proved transformational for television, and one of the most surprising outcomes is that North America is no longer the largest region globally for daily TV consumption.
According to a Glance (Global Audience & Content Evolution) presentation at MipTV, both Europe and South America have now overtaken North America in this regard.

“Globally you see that TV consumption remains very stable since 1982. The difference comes from the different regions,” explained Glance VP Frédéric Vaulpré. “What is striking is to see that now, the number one region in terms of TV consumption is Europe, followed by South America.”

David Fincher’s “Mank” and Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” were among the winners at the Art Directors Guild Awards on Saturday night both are also Oscar nominees for best production design.
In a hybrid ceremony, the ADG (IATSE Local 800) awarded 11 categories across television, film, music videos and commercials.

Other winners included, “Da 5 Bloods” (Wynn Thomas), and “Soul” (Steve Pilcher).
In the television category, “The Mandalorian: Chapter 13: The Jedi,” “The Queen’s Gambit,” and “What We Do in the Shadows: Resurrection” were all recognized.

“You can’t follow trends, you have to set them yourselves,” said Ziwe, actor, writer and star of the upcoming variety show “Ziwe.”
Ziwe, along with Chelsea Devantez, London Hughes, Jana Schmieding and Rachel Sennott, gathered virtually at USC’s Women Creating Comedy panel, hosted by Shannon Hardy, to discuss carving their own paths and sexism in the entertainment industry.

“Godzilla vs. Kong” was once again muscled out of the top China box office slot by local drama “Sister” thanks to a $13.2 million third weekend cume that was no match for the latter’s $21 million.
Its China tally was a touch less than its $13.4 million second weekend sales in North America. Though “Godzilla” is being hailed Stateside as the highest grossing film domestically since the pandemic began for its $69.5 million cume to date, that figure is less than half its earnings in China thus far.

British people are known for being self-deprecating, but even they might have felt a little blindsided by “Minari” star Yuh-Jung Youn’s brutally honest, funny assessment of them.
Shortly after offering her condolences for the death of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, during her BAFTA Film Awards acceptance speech for supporting actress, Youn then delivered arguably the biggest laugh of the night.
