So this at the same time lawmakers are prepping to start a special session to pass the stayed budget. They are expected to vote on whether to add the flag issue to the agenda. Long time charleston mayor joe riley has led the fight to remove the flag for several years, dating back to 2000. He led a march from columbia to charleston calling for it to be removed from the dome.
