Those changes have allowed Jackson County schools more opportunities to count students virtually, while not penalizing districts that might have lost a large number of students during the pandemic, Bontrager said.

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Dollar General, 811 E. McDevitt Ave., at 10:11 p.m., Dec. 23, police said. A man shoved the clerk and took money from a cash register, before fleeing, police said. No one was injured.
