Landlords were asking for an average of $1,544 in rent for one-bedroom Montreal apartments in November, up 0.7% in the last month and 2.9% in the last 12 months, according to the latest rent report from Rentals.ca and Urbanation. Other Canadian cities have fared far worse. Montreal was only the 25th most expensive market in the country.

After months and months of continued increases, totalling more than $200 in price hikes since January, the average Montreal rent for an unfurnished one-bedroom apartment fell by $22 over the past month. This places the new average at $1,517 per month. That average only crossed over the $1,500 threshold in June, according to recent reports from liv.rent.
