78 new COVID-19 cases in Interior Health region as vaccine is rolled out | iNFOnews

That brings the provincial total to 47,510. There were 12 more deaths in B.C., bringing that total to 777. At the same time, more than 4,000 B.C. residents have been vaccinated, including some in Kelowna and Kamloops. “Vaccine manufacturers Pfizer and Moderna have also provided guidance on how to safely transport the approved vaccines,” a joint statement issued today, Dec. 22, by provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix read. “This means that, as deliveries increase in the coming weeks, the vaccine will increasingly be available in more locations.”

Of those, 60 were in the Interior Health region, according to a joint statement issued today, Dec. 18, by provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix. The Interior Heath region has 788 active cases with 31 people in hospital, nine of whom are in intensive care. There have been 11 new deaths in B.C., so 724 people have now died from the virus to date. Ten of those deaths were in the Interior Health region.

That brings the B.C. total to 44,776 since the start of the pandemic with 3,064 of those in the Interior Health region. There have been 21 new deaths, bringing the death toll in B.C. to 732. “Here in B.C., the majority of new cases continue to be directly connected to somebody we know who has a confirmed case or as a part of a cluster or an outbreak in your social group,” provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said during a media briefing today, Dec. 17. So if you have any, any symptoms at all, you should arrange to get testing immediately.”
