Vancouver airport will bring back “a significant number” of laid-off employees to help Vancouver Coastal Health operate mass vaccination clinics for COVID-19, since YVR is still only running at a fraction of its capacity, CEO Tamara Vrooman said Wednesday.
With expectations that international air travel won’t truly rebound until 2022, “I can think of no better way to get our airport staff back working (at) the work they love doing, serving the community, than to help with the vaccine effort,” Vrooman said in a virtual address to the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.
