A Dutch couple have become the proud new tenants of the country s first ever 3D-printed house.
Elize Lutz and Harrie Dekkers have been given the digital key to the gray, boulder-shaped building in the Bosrijk neighborhood of Eindhoven, in the southern Netherlands.
The single-story home has more than 1,000 square feet of floor area, with a spacious living room and two bedrooms.
Lutz, 71, and Dekkers, 67, replied to an advertisement seeking tenants for the groundbreaking project.
Now retired, the former shopkeepers from Amsterdam will move into their new home on August 1 although their tenancy will last for just six months.
PPC Limited has sold its lime business in a move that will strengthen its balance sheet and may negate the need for a rights issue. It’s the latest positive step by the cement producer, which has been struggling with high debt and a tough market. Its business is also showing signs of a decent recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company sold PPC Lime to Kgatelopele, a consortium that includes IMR Resources South Africa, part of private international commodities company IMR Group, as well as black-owned mining investment companies Kolobe Nala Investment Lime and HEX2M Energy Holdings, and JJCL Mining, an entity owned by former PPC CEO Johannes Claassen. It said Claassen had an in-depth understanding of PPC Lime and its operations.

First resident of 3D-printed concrete house in Eindhoven receives key
Today, April 30, the first tenant of the first ever Dutch 3D-printed concrete home receives the key. The house in Eindhoven – the first of five within ‘Project Milestone’ – fully complies with all of the strict building requirements of The Netherlands. Uniquely, the project partners have realized a home with an entirely original design thanks to extensive R&D that enlarges the freedom of form in concrete printing.
Project Milestone is a joint construction and innovation project of Eindhoven University of Technology, Van Wijnen, Saint-Gobain Weber Beamix, Vesteda, the Municipality of Eindhoven and Witteveen+Bos. The group of TU/e professor Theo Salet is one of the driving forces of the project.
