For many people, including yours truly, Vietnam’s real estate fevers have killed the dream of owning a home.

I intended to buy a land plot and build a house 10 years ago. Thanks to an acquaintance, I was able to acquire a 55-square-meter plot in the HCMC s outskirt district of Nha Be. The transaction took place during a land fever outbreak and therefore, I rushed to close the deal via an intermediary.
The cost for the plot was VND7-8 million ($305-350 as per current exchange ratio) per square meter and I made a deal with the broker on a handwritten paper without getting it notarized.
Sea reclamation proposed for central economic zone

Van Phong Economic Zone in Khanh Hoa Province should be expanded by 1,500 hectares (3,706 acres) toward the sea, its consultant unit stated.
Hoang Dinh Phi, management head of the economic zone (EZ), said the consultant unit, U.S.-based Boston Consulting Group, proposed the sea reclamation in Van Ninh District at a provincial meeting last week.
The area proposed to be reclaimed comprises a solitary swamp apart from the sea conservation zone, with proceedings said to not leave any impacts on the environment or marine ecosystem.
Australis Aquaculture has become the world’s first producer to achieve certification under the Aquaculture Stewardship Council s (ASC) Tropical Marine Finfish standard for its ocean-based barramundi farm in central Vietnam.
Australis sited its farms in Van Phong Bay in central Vietnam, where it uses a farming system that integrates seaweed cultivation and a frozen supply chain that minimizes food waste and CO2 emissions, according to the company.
“This is another milestone for the ASC, and we’re thrilled to see a farmer with such an obvious commitment to environmental sustainability embracing the program,” said Kathleen McDavitt, ASC s US market development manager.
